TASCA's Legislative Program

TASCA maintains a full time lobbying team in Nashville to represent the interests of the ASC industry with the legislature and other regulatory bodies.  With this representation, TASCA is able to advocate on behalf of ASCs when issues arise whether it be at the State Board of Health or the Tennessee General Assembly.

TASCA notifies members of issues and calls action as needed by email throughout the year.

In the last legislative session there were several bills that TASCA monitored on behalf of ASCs.  Below is a list of bills that are now law.

SB437/HB498 - Healthcare Provider Stability Act - The Bill limits how often insurance companies can change fee schedules and payment policies/methodologies and makes such changes more transparent to healthcare providers. By requiring notice of changes to fee schedules and payment policies, the bill makes it easier for providers to see, understand and deal with contract changes as they are made.

SB51/HB18 - Prescription eye drops - Requires that health benefit plans provide coverage for prescription eye drops prior to the 30 day refill date.

SB789/HB1370 - Surgical Assistants - The bill requires the State Board of Medical Examiners to set up a process for surgical assistants to register, though the registration is voluntary.

SB 1238/HB766 - Central Sterile Technician - Clarifies the requirements for the certified central service technician

TASCA has identified several resources for centers looking for continuing education hours to meet the CE requirements of central service technician bill.
